GMRS or General Mobile Radio Service is one of the tools available to us for communications. In this video we talk about how you can make the most out of GMRS. In this video we talk about the Midland MicroMobile- http://goo.gl/qj8JCW The key to maximizing portable communications is the N9TAX Slim Jim Antenna- http://goo.gl/z0raHs We also talk to the Midland GXT1000's- http://goo.gl/Z2TBbI We repeatedly mention the "Ham-O-Can". We go over the features of the device and explain how this is a serious 2-way radio despite the fact that it looks like a walkie talkie. Be sure to also watch Part 2 where we go over a test and discuss channel usage. The Hand mic (That I also plan on using on my GXT1000's) has a round CB microphone type clip that's great if you have a dashboard instead of a shoulder. So I decided that for my purposes, a belt clip would work much better. The last time my grandson took the hand held out, it came back covered in clay, so I would rather have the radio in his pocket, with only the hand mic exposed. Easier to clean, and cheaper to replace.
http://www.omegasurvivalsupply.com/collections/communications-for-survival/products/midland-base-camp-radio-with-hand-crank-power The Midland base camp radio has AM/FM, GMRS and FRS bands along with a NiMH on board battery pack and slots for 4 standard AA batteries. Handcrank dynamo allows charging of its own battery pack, or charging of USB devices like phones. Note: This radio does not have traditional "CB" frequencies.
